Meet Your Author
I started off like most authors with my nose in a book and my head in the clouds. My favorite books as a kid were fantasies with lots of deep friendships and romance. That love of both fuels what I write today. I believe there can be books with plenty of fantastic world building, plot and a lot of romance, so that is what I write.
Today, I live in Minnesota with my husband and two giant monster cats and write full time. In previous lives I’ve: run a small literary magazine, been a writing instructor at CU Boulder, and consulted with over 1000 clients as a writing consultant. I also did a brief stint as an instructional design consultant, but those days are long behind me.
I have both a BA & MA in English Literature, and while I stayed in school long enough to do enough coursework for a PhD, I decided in favor of a writing career instead of a life as a full-time academic. I still long for campus every fall, though, and you will find influences of my academic interests in all I write.
xoxo,

FAQs
-
I primarily write adult fantasy romance. However, nearly all of my series fall into the category of “science fantasy,” meaning that there are some sci-fi elements in them.
This means you are likely to find hints of modern and futuristic technology in all of my stories. Some series feature this more prominently than others.
-
All of my books are only appropriate for an 18+ audience, regardless of whether or not there is on the page sex.
-
That is not an option that Amazon currently makes available for self-published authors. Yes, there is a workaround that some authors use with Ingram Spark; however, we’ve seen a lot of issues (like canceled pre-orders on ebooks) as a result of using this workaround. For simplicity’s sake, all paperbacks are made available with the built-in capability that each specific retailer allows.
-
The majority of my books are currently contracted to have audio at some point in the future. However, this depends largely on sales performance for my other books.
-
I am able to give a limited amount of influencer copies of my books out each quarter. Please see my Contact page for more information.

I never pay for reviews.
I also do not currently work with influencers for individual paid promo. The reason for this is that in bookish spaces the ROI for paying individual influencers for promo has gotten extremely low. Big publishers can afford to work with influencers in this way, I cannot.
I work with several book tour companies to coordinate tours, as well as having spots open a few times a year for my own promo teams.
If you love my books, the best way to get them for free is to join one of my teams.
-
I do not! Readers have made it very clear that they would like authors to stay out of review spaces and so I abide by that!
-
All of my books go through several editing phases, which are: alpha critique (my critique partners/sometimes a dev edit), beta readers (reader-responses), copyedits, proofreading. Some books get sensitivity reads as well.
-
All content guidelines have been moved out of the front page of my books and onto my website for the foreseeable future. I realize this presents a challenge for some readers, but this was the best option for my books at this time.
